CODATA
CODATA is the International Council for Science: Committee on Data for Science and Technology. Its mission is "to strengthen international science for the benefit of society by promoting improved scientific and technical data management and use."
With informal support from a number of bodies, we have joined CODATA on behalf of the UK and are in the process of inviting appropriate organisations to nominate individuals to sit on the initial CODATA National Committee for the UK.
Purpose of the National Committee

- Establish communication mechanisms about/for CODATA and its activities
- Encourage UK participation in CODATA activities at an international level
- Participate in bilateral cooperation with other CODATA national committees
- Act as a cross-domain forum for science data in the UK
- Sponsor training and development events and other workshops relevant to science data, in conjunction with others
- Attract and stage international events of value
- Nominate the Delegate and Alternate to the biennial CODATA General Assembly
