Repository Fringe 2016

Repository Fringe is a gathering for repository managers and others interested in research data repositories and publication repositories. Participation is a key element – the event is designed to encourage all attendees to share their repository experiences and expertise. DMPonline is the DCC's web-based tool to help researchers write Data Management Plans. We've recently released a new version of the tool which offers a lot of flexibility in terms of how institutions can customise it.

Workshop for e-Infrastructure trainers

If you have an interest in training researchers how to use computing, software or data, you should attend the workshop for e-Infrastructure trainers on 14 August at the newly opened Hartree Centre. The goal of the workshop is to create a community of trainers who will work together to improve the quality and provision of e-Infrastructure training. We will bring together a huge variety of trainers so that they can network, share ideas and work on a strategy for improving training.

The University of Edinburgh with support from the Digital Curation Centre, EDINA, and Edinburgh University Library are delighted to announce that after its temporary incorporation into Open Repositories 2012 the Repository Fringe will return as a standalone event this year to be held in the Informatics Forum. Repository Fringe aims to showcase a range of innovative repository and related developments to coincide with 'preview week' that precedes the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The field of data metrics is still in its infancy, although both established indexing services and ‘altmetrics’ providers are now offering services which measure aspects of data use and impact.
