What to cite: versioning and granularity of research data for citation

"JISC-BL Workshop #4"

3 December 2012
The British Library Centre for Conservation, London

Overview

The fourth in the series of JISC-British Library DataCite Workshops will take place in the British Library Centre for Conservation (Foyle Suite).

About the Workshop

Deciding what constitutes a clearly-defined - and therefore citable - digital object is a key challenge in research data management. The challenge is even greater when the data in question is dynamic (in the case of longitudinal data, for example) or structurally complex (such as data comprised of multiple sub-datasets).

This workshop will examine best-practice approaches to versioning and granularity for effective data citation, with speakers from research, publishing and both institutional and disciplinary repository backgrounds bringing their distinctive perspectives to the problem.

Who should attend?

The workshop is open to anyone with an interest in research data management and citation, although is particularly aimed at those who are working on JISC Managing Research Data funded projects. Attendance is limited to two people per project/institution.

The full workshop programme is available on the registration page http://www.eventbrite.co.uk/event/4797737161
