The first phase of Research Data Spring concluded on January 12th with 70 ideas posted, 159 comments, 1005 votes and 603 users! But the process isn't over yet. Now Jisc needs your input to help identify which ideas should be taken forward to the next stage of the process.
It’s great to see how many ideas have been submitted to the Research Data Spring already. There are already over 40 proposals that cover a wide range of research data challenges. There are only a few days left to submit your ideas – it closes on Monday 12th January - so if you think there are gaps, submit an idea now!
Perhaps more importantly, you should register and vote. Jisc needs your input to determine which ideas are of most value to the community so please take some time to read through the proposals, comment and vote.
For governments around the world one of the drivers for the move to open data is a belief that it will encourage data reuse and that that reuse will improve economic performance. This requires data to be reused outside the domain which generated it. We need to see data move between the administrative, academic and commercial sectors more often and more easily than we do now.
