New Checklist for a Data Management Plan

We received lots of feedback that we should shorten the DCC Checklist for a Data Management Plan and have managed to condense it to 13 questions and some basic administrative information. More detailed questions are used as pointers to help researchers decide how to respond and we've enhanced the guidance.

ANDS & the DCC

After giving a presentation on DMPonline at the Future Perfect conference, Martin and I visited ANDS staff in the Canberra and Mebourne offices.  We had some great discussions, sharing common ground and learning from each other's lessons.

Tools for data management planning

The DCC ran a workshop at IDCC which brought together the teams that have developed the UK and US data management planning tools: DMPonline and DMP Tool.

The workshop initially looked at the data policies in each country that define requirements for data management and sharing plans. After coffee we had a demo of each of the tools and discussed future development plans.

ESRC releases a new research data policy

The ESRC has released a new research data policy which draws on the OECD principles to promote open access to publicly-funded research data. The policy is accompanied by detailed implementation guidance and outlines the specific responsibilities assigned to grant applicants, grantholders, the ESRC, and the data service providers it funds.
