espida Handbook

The espida Handbook offers a method for expressing project costs and benefits in a systematic way to best encourage investment in information and IT.

The espida project, which ended in January 2007, was charged with developing a sustainable business-focused model for digital preservation at a FE/HE Institution, and to disseminate it to the wider community.

Within the University of Glasgow the project attempted to bring digital preservation to the core of strategic thinking, planning and culture by first gaining a comprehensive understanding of the University's diverse electronic assets and then building a network of stakeholders and advocates. This network helped espida map the imperatives for storing and accessing digital materials (e.g. legal conditions, future research) to create the model for an integrated rationale that the University could fully support.
