Re3data is a global registry of research data repositories. Users can search by repository name or subject area, and then filter their results by subject, resource type collected, country, certification level, access level provided and persistent identifier used. The full records held by re3data describe who operates the repository, the policies under which the repository operates, its licensing and access regime, and its technical, metadata and quality standards.

The registry is intended to help researchers find an appropriate repository for storing their data, and for publishers and institutions to find appropriate repositories to recommend to researchers. Re3data is operated by the Berlin School of Library and Information Science, the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), and the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) Library, with funding from the German Research Foundation (DFG).
