ShareGeo Open

ShareGeo Open is a data repository for Open data. There are lots of useful spatial datasets that have been deposited by users for others to download and re-use. This create – share – reuse philosophy is central to ShareGeo Open. All the data in the repository is open and can be re-used freely making it ideal for students, researchers and teaching staff to find data. SURFSHARE Guidelines on Selection of Research Data

This study shows the latest situation in the area of selecting research data, based on a survey of the literature, interviews with important figures, and the experience gained by DANS and the 3TU Data Centre.

This CODATA resource lists statements that express the policies of a number of organizations on data issues. Most of these are related in some way to the environmental sciences, where international sharing of data on a global scale is essential to progress in research.

A Techno-Legal Analysis Of Digital Preservation In India

Digital Preservation is neither a technical nor a legal issue. Rather it is a techno-legal mandate that requires domain specific techno-legal expertise. The technology as well as legal issues are involved almost with all the segments of the society. The scope of digital preservation is increasing and so is its importance. The resource abovementioned is one of the few techno-legal resources that are analysing digital preservation from a techno-legal perspective.

Library of Congress Transfer Tools (BagIt, and so on)

This project includes tools for use with BagIt [external PDF], a hierarchical file packaging format for the exchange of digital content jointly developed by the Library of Congress and the California Digital Library. The Library plans to release additional tools as part of a suite of solutions and software development resources as they are completed over time. There are already more tools in the pipeline. Functionality:  Three tools developed by the Library's Repository Development Group are available now.
