Full Title

ISO/IEC 15444: Information Technology - JPEG 2000

Description

JPEG 2000 is a multi-part standard which defines a superior method of lossless and lossy compression for digital still images, using wavelet technology, in a single architecture. It improves on the features of JPEG by allowing advanced editing and scalability features. These include: multiple resolution representation, progressive decoding and scalability and random code stream access and processing. The format allows flexibility and is resilient to errors. JPEG 2000 encodes image metadata in XML.
