The European Commission has released new Guidelines on FAIR Data Management in Horizon 2020. There are a few key changes and a new template for DMPs which has been added to DMPonline.

 “To date there have been very few opportunities and, due to trust issues, little willingness for digital curation practitioners to exchange information relating to the cost of curation. The Curation Costs Exchange (CCEx) platform allows users to upload their curation costs and compare them with those of others in a secure, controlled fashion,” explains Alex Thirifays of the Danish National Archives who collated the report.

Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation, edited by Dr. Nancy Y. McGovern (the volume editor) and Dr. Katherine Skinner (the series editor), is the recipient of the Preservation Publication Award given by the Society of American Archivists (SAA).

Who are we?
4C is a European research project that will help organisations across Europe to invest more effectively in digital curation and preservation. We are a consortium led by Jisc and composed of 12 other institutions including national libraries, archives, universities and small & medium enterprises (SMEs).

The EC has launched a major new initiative to help organizations invest confidently in digital curation and preservation. 
4C Project - ‘the Collaboration to Clarify the Costs of Curation’ - will help organisations across Europe to invest more effectively in digital curation and preservation.

Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation

On May 23-25 2012, more than 125 delegates from more than 20 countries gathered in Tallinn, Estonia, for the Aligning National Approaches to Digital Preservation conference. 
At the National Library of Estonia, this group explored how to create and sustain international collaborations to support the preservation of our digital cultural memory.

As part of the JISC-funded Piloting the LIFE costs tool in UK HEIs project , the DCC is now seeking volunteers to test the effectiveness of the LIFE 3 tool within UK HEI repositories. Testing will run from early June until the end of July and participants will receive dedicated support in employing the tool. Participants will be asked to maintain an activity journal for a one-month period and JISC has provided some financial support for institutions wishing to take part.
