I've had a number of inspiring DMP discussions over the last few weeks, both Australian and European based. Here in Oz, funders do not require data management plans like they do in the UK and USA. This has led to the growth of quite different tools as institutions fit the DMP to local priorities.

All the fun of the FAIR: FAIR WG inaugural meeting held

Thursday, 4 July was the inaugural meeting of the EOSC FAIR Working Group. The Group is chaired by the DCC's Associate Director Sarah Jones. It has 26 members representing 20 different Member States and Associated Countries and a remit which covers FAIR practice, a Persistent Identifier policy, defining an EOSC Interoperability Framework, metrics for FAIR data, and service certification.

What did you say there Skippy? Learning from our Aussie neighbours

From mid-July to mid-September, the DCC’s Sarah Jones will be working remotely on placement with the Australian Research Data CommonsSarah will be in Australia on behalf of the EOSC Executive Board to attend the ARDC Skills Summit and meet with relevant data stakeholders to explore what lessons can be learned from their work to inform European initiatives. She’ll be based primarily at the ARDC offices in Melbourne, but will also visit Brisbane and Sydney and meet with CSIRO, various universities and some partners in recent ARDC Data and Services Discovery projects.

The Digital Curation Centre in collaboration with Research Data Netherlands have developed an online course on Delivering Research Data Management Services (DRDMS). Sam Rust explains benefits of API for DMPonline

DMPonline has a REST API to enable you to query some statistics about your organisation, download your guidance, check the templates in the tool, and even create plans for your users.  This blog post will detail some clients to use APIs in general, the data you can pull from our api, and run through a more detailed example.  We will also talk about some of the planned extensions to the API to enable you to run your own queries on your organisation's data.
