EUDAT summer school

From 3-7 July 2017, EUDAT is organising a Summer School to introduce early-career researchers to the principles and tools needed for careers in data science and data management. The week-long training course will be set in the stunning landscapes of Heraklion, Crete, and kindly hosted by FORTH. The course is applicable to those working with big data, as well as researchers from less data-intensive communities. In collaboration with other pan European e-Infrastructures, this intense training course will provide attendees with a better understanding of the European e-Infrastructure landscape, the different tools and services offered by them, and how they can be used to improve the quality of your research outputs.

The deadline for applications is Monday April 17th 2017, midnight CET. Further details about how to apply are available on the EUDAT website

The courses were for project officers at the European Commission. They’re the liaison point between researchers and the EC, so our training looked specifically at the requirements under Horizon 2020. It was a really useful learning experience for me too – I came away knowing much more about open access and the support available via OpenAIRE. Below is a summary of the key points and references I took away.

DMPonline at OpenAIRE-COAR 2014

On 20th May 2014 I presented DMPonline at an OpenAIRE-COAR 2014 pre-conference workshop in Athens, Greece. The workshop took place in the context of the EC Horizon 2020 Data Pilot and with particular reference to the manual that the EC has provided for the pilot.

What I’d like to do here is outline some of the key points and to address some that were raised during the presentation and subsequently, and also provide links to relevant resources.
