Delivering Research Data Management Services MOOC: Week 3 Recap
Getting started with a data management plan
Blog by René van Horik
The third week of “Delivering Research Data Management Services” MOOC* focused on putting parts of a data management plan into action. The moderators were Ryan O’Connor and René van Horik.
The modules of this week asked the participants to reflect on example DMPs, to look into existing examples of web pages that support researchers in their data management and to evaluate a couple of online training resources. The goal of this is to motivate the participants to take further action, e.g. by setting up DMP support in their own institution.
An important lesson is to build on what’s already available, to cooperate with other stakeholders and to share information and knowledge. The participants commented and reflected on existing information resources and often got inspired to take action by “translating” the knowledge into their own situation.
In module 4 we will focus on data repositories.
