Because good research needs good data

A new dashboard for DMPonline issues

Updates and changes to the system on a regular basis are necessary and even with significant testing ahead of time, they might introduce some bugs. Whenever this happens, our helpdesk is the best way to get in touch with us to let us know what is not working for you.

We recently moved our helpdesk to Salesforce which helps us to stay at the top of your request in more transparent way. However, this still does not show you the issues raised by other clients. While we use GitHub to address issues, we do this in a private repository to protect customer information. Unlike suggestion requests to the central roadmap code, this means you cannot comment on top of points already raised by other institutions.

Especially after a big upgrade, more transparency is useful to provide you with an overview of issues we are aware of. Thus, we provided you with a wiki page that lists reported issues that we are working on.

While this is a useful step towards more transparency, it is not very interactive and an easy way for our clients to feed back on top of that and let us know that this is an issue for all clients and not just the organisation that. Thus, we looked into an additional overview board and decided to trial tricider with you.

We picked that tool as it is free to use and allows you to feed back with as much detail as you would like to provide without having to create an account for a new platform. You can “upvote” issues that also affect you and let us know that this is also an issue for you.

While you will see the functionality to add issues yourself and we will monitor and update the dashboard, you should still raise new issues with us via the helpdesk. Emailing us at  dmponline@dcc.ac.uk is the best way to let us know about any issue and makes it easiest for us to ask you about more detail if needed and ensures you hear first when an issue has been fixed.

Let us know how you like the tool and if this is something we should use more often to gather feedback from you!
