Digital Research Infrastructure (DRI) Webinar Series - Overview

Starting in February 2026, we are launching a series of webinars to showcase the digital research infrastructure projects and communities in the UK and beyond in collaboration with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI). Join us to learn about state-of-the-art initiatives that aim to advance research tools and techniques, foster collaboration and data sharing, and accelerate discoveries across a range of academic disciplines and sectors. And if you work on a research infrastructure project and are interested in being a guest speaker, please email us at info@dcc.ac.uk!

Digital Research Infrastructure Webinar Series: Getting to know Archaeology Data Service

Wednesday 10 June 2026

Join us to learn more about JASMIN and the Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) from our guest speakers Dr Matt Pritchard and Alison Pamment.

JASMIN

Operated by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC) on behalf of the Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), JASMIN is the UK's data analysis platform for environmental science. It provides over 2,500 users with access to storage and compute resources designed for large-scale data-intensive science and collaboration.

CEDA

The Centre for Environmental Data Analysis (CEDA) serves the environmental science community by the provision of data centres, data analysis & access, and research project participation. CEDA is one of five data centres that together comprise the NERC Environmental Data Service.

About our guest speakers

Dr Matt Pritchard leads the team of Digital Research Engineers responsible for delivering JASMIN services to the environmental science community. With a background in Earth Sciences (BSc Geophysics, PhD Seismology), he joined the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, now part of UKRI-STFC, in 2000, initially helping to establish the NERC Earth Observation Data Centre (NEODC), now part of the CEDA Archive. Matt was a founding member of the JASMIN team when the platform was established in 2011/12, and has expertise in high-performance data transfer, alongside operational management of JASMIN.

Alison Pamment is a senior data scientist at CEDA. Coming from a background in climate modelling, she works on metadata standards and controlled vocabularies, particularly in the context of the CF (Climate Forecast) metadata conventions which are used for data sharing in many climate and weather-related projects. Alison contributes to the organisation and presenting of IT skills training for the National Centre for Atmospheric Science and is chair of the Training and Skills group within the NERC Environmental Data Service.ods for archaeological analysis.
