IPR and Licensing: tips, traps and techniques
25 February 2011 |
The Digital Curation Centre (DCC) ran a half-day workshop in conjunction with Naomi Korn Copyright Consultancy and the JISC MRD Programme on copyright issues affecting the reuse of learning and teaching materials. This event introduced participants to basic copyright principles that can affect the reuse of digital learning materials. Naomi worked through real-life examples drawn from the JISC Research Data Management projects.
The event also featured an introduction to data licensing by Alex Ball, UKOLN. This session provided participants with an awareness of why licensing data is important, the impact licences have on future research, and the potential pitfalls to avoid.
