Joint DCC/PLANETS/CASPAR/DPE Joint Workshop: Developing an International Curation and Preservation Training Roadmap
29-30 March 2007 |
The number of projects and institutions providing training on digital preservation has increased dramatically in recent years, resulting in a vast and often overwhelming number of courses for potential attendees to choose from. As UK and EU projects such as DCC, DPE, CASPAR and PLANETS begin to finalise their own overall training plans, it is clear that increased collaboration is needed in order to establish a more co-ordinated approach.
In order to try and address the issue, this meeting was initiated by members of DPE, PLANETS, CASPAR and DCC to begin discussions on how projects might best work together to establish a shared roadmap for digital preservation and curation training. We encouraged attendance from as many key initiatives and projects as possible, which ensured a high level of discussion and productivity.

Benefits of Attendance
This workshop provided the opportunity to develop a shared vision and infrastructure for the provision of digital preservation and curation training. This included identifying key themes and topics that we might offer collaboratively, discussing how disparate resources can be maximised, and discussing practical means for sharing training information and content between projects. Participation in the event also enabled future access to an online collaborative training forum, a tool currently under development which will allow projects to share their training needs and resources.
