Objectives
The National Archives of Australia:
- Helps Australian government agencies create and manage records
- Selects which records will be maintained
- Stores, describes and preserves the selected records
- Ensures public accessibility of records over 30 years old
Areas of Activity
The National Archives of Australia are an Executive Agency in the Australian Governments\' Prime Minister and Cabinet Portfolio. They:
- ensure that the Australian national collection is controlled and described while remaining accessible and stable over time;
- raise awareness of the collection through exhibitions, education programs, events, publications and websites and operate services for users;
- provide records management standards and advice for government agencies
