23 Academics Invited to NHS CFH Meeting

Joy Davidson | 20 April 2006

An open letter to the House of Commons Health Select Committee has been written by 23 leading IT academics, calling for an independent technical audit of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT).

In response to this, Richard Granger, Director General for NHS IT and Chief Executive of NHS Connecting for Health (NHS CFH), has invited the academics, from universities across the UK, to a private meeting on Thursday 20 April in London. The meeting will give them an opportunity to raise their concerns and provide them with an overview of the programme, its progress to date and its technical architecture.

After the meeting has been held, NHS CFH will report the proceedings.

The technical architecture of the National Programme is modern, robust and designed to be future proof. NHS CFH remains confident that it will enable benefits to be delivered for patients whilst ensuring value for money to the taxpayer.
