Gateway to the Archives of Scottish Higher Education (GASHE) Report available

As you may remember, earlier this year witnessed the launch of the new, improved Gateway to the Archives of Scottish Higher Education (GASHE) website. The new site was the culmination of a project funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council to test a function based approach to archival description. The new site incoporated new and flexible search options, including a facility to access records via descriptions of the functions and activities performed by the higher education institutions.

A full report into the project, describing the methodology used and the reactions of users to the new site, is now availaible on the home page of the GASHE site (http://www.gashe.ac.uk). Please feel free to send me any comments (about the project or the website itself). All comments will feed directly into the development of a new AHRC funded project that Glasgow University Archive Services has recently embarked upon to develop a flexible and dynamic online finding aid for the records of the House of Fraser collection.
