Because good research needs good data

International Journal of Digital Curation opens its first rolling issue

Alex Ball | 30 October 2014

The International Journal of Digital Curation has published the first papers from its next issue, Volume 9, Issue 2. These include three original peer-reviewed submissions, eight general articles based on papers from IDCC 2014, and a book review.

The journal has moved to a new publishing model in order to reduce the time between papers being accepted and being published. Taking advantage of the flexibility offered by online-only publication, issues will be 'opened' early with a small set of papers; more papers will be added over time. This means papers can be read and cited immediately without waiting for the full issue to be completed. Twice a year, we will 'close' the current issue to new papers and complete it with editorial material, and begin the process again with a new issue.

This differs from the advance online publication offered by many journals, in that the full, stable citation is available immediately (with page numbers!). At the same time, we retain the character of traditional journal issues for ease of browsing and citation.

Issue 2 of Volume 9 will be completed in December 2014. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy early sight of the papers published so far.
