JISC Vacancies: Strategic e-Content Alliance Project Director and Project Manager
STRATEGIC E-CONTENT ALLIANCE-PROJECT DIRECTOR AND PROJECT MANAGER
The JISC’s mission is to provide world-class leadership in the innovative
use of information and communications technology to support education and
research (http://www.jisc.ac.uk). Users of e-content are faced with a
bewildering array of e-resources and systems that can present a barrier to a
meaningful interaction with the Internet. The Strategic e-Content Alliance is a project which aims to build a common information environment where users of publicly funded e-content can gain best value from the investment that has been made by reducing the barriers that currently inhibit the access, use and re-use of e-content. We are looking for two
highly-motivated and knowledgeable staff to ensure the successful delivery
of the project:
Project Director

You will lead the strategic planning and direction of the Strategic
e-Content Alliance. To do this you will need to have a very good knowledge
of the agencies, initiatives and programmes in the public sector engaged in the delivery and development of e-content services and technologies and the associated policy and process. You will have experience of managing
programmes or large scale complex projects and of working at a national
level on current e-content, e-learning, e-libraries or e-research initiatives or programmes. You will also need to have excellent organisational and influencing skills and have the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders including policy makers, senior managers and practitioners in the public sector and beyond.
Appointment will be within ALC Grade 5, currently between £42,169 - £47,489
inclusive of £2, 323 London Allowance per annum.
Project Manager

You will work closely with the Project Director in order to ensure the
successful delivery of the e-Content Framework project with a particular
focus on: the successful implementation of the project using appropriate
programme and project management methodologies; monitoring project workflow and budgeting; managing the project’s communication and dissemination channels; managing contacts with sponsoring organisations and wider stakeholders. To do this you will have relevant experience in project or programme management and knowledge of agencies, initiatives and programmes in the public sector engaged in the delivery and development of e-content services and technologies and the associated policy and process issues. You will be a team player, have excellent organisational skills, and also have an eye for detail and the ability to manage complex projects to a successful completion.
Appointment will be within ALC Grade 3, currently between £34,535 - £40,391
inclusive of £2,323 London Allowance per annum.
Both appointments are fixed term until March 2009 as they are externally
funded projects within the JISC Development Group.
