UKOLN is a national focus of expertise in digital information management based at the University of Bath, providing services to the UK library, education and cultural heritage communities. As a partner in the Digital Curation Centre, we currently have a vacancy for a Research Officer post.

The post will be a part of the distributed DCC Services Team led by Professor Seamus Ross at the University of Glasgow.

Applicants should have knowledge of digital libraries and associated technical issues. The post requires an understanding of the service delivery aspects of the role. Knowledge of current digital curation and preservation technologies within the education and research sector, together with practical experience of curatorial practice for large datasets is desirable.

We are also seeking an awareness of wider issues associated with providing open access to data, user requirements, and an interest in addressing the technical issues related to the delivery of curation services. Applicants will be good communicators with proven ability to produce high quality written reports, briefing papers and presentations. The post is full time but we are open to flexible working arrangements and will negotiate home working where appropriate. The contract will be for two years. Salary for the Research Officer will be up to £29,198 per annum depending on experience. Closing date for application is 26 August 2005.
