Self-Archiving and Journal Subscriptions: Flawed Method and No Data

"There is no evidence to date that Open Access self-archiving causes journal cancellations," says Stevan Harnad on American Scientist Open Access Forum. The Publishing Research Consortium [external] recently commissioned a survey [external] to see whether they could predict such cancellations in the future using a "Share of Preference model," but the study apparently has a glaring methodological flaw that invalidates its conclusion.
