The National Archives DROID Goes Open Source

The National Archives [external] has announced the release of a new version of DROID (Digital Records Object Identification), its automatic file format identification tool. DROID 1.1 incorporates a number of enhancements and is being released for the first time under an open source license, and is freely available to download from the DROID project website.
