Digital Research Infrastructure Webinar Series: Getting to Know Research Data Scotland
Wednesday 21 October 2026
Join us and our guest speaker, Hugh Wallace, to learn about Research Data Scotland (RDS), a charity focused on enabling access to public sector data about people, places and businesses.
Established by the Scottish Government in 2021 as an independent charity, Research Data Scotland (RDS) works in partnership with other organisations in Scotland and the UK to help researchers find and make use of health, social care and administrative data, in order to facilitate evidence-based decisions and advance health and social wellbeing in Scotland. RDS plays a leadership role in the Scottish data research system, including the Scottish Government’s Health and Social Care Data Strategy, and is actively involved in building community and establishing best practices for new directions in research, such as synthetic data.
Hugh Wallace is Chief Information Officer at Research Data Scotland (RDS). Prior to that he led a high-profile programme to deliver a common payments platform in Scottish Government and support digital service development within Scotland’s Social Security agency. His previous roles include leading the digital teams at Oxfam and National Museums Scotland, as well as heading up the design function in a digital agency.
