Changes to International Journal of Digital Curation (IJDC) Submissions

If you’re considering submitting to the IJDC for the first time, or especially if you’ve done so in the past, you’ll be keen to know that we have simplified the submissions process. The changes are laid out clearly in a DCC post here, and submissions will now include a data availability statement, statements on AI use, and an option of including CRediT (Contributor Role Taxonomy) for authors .

Article: Implementing Libsafe Go

A new article in the International Journal of Digital Curation (IJDC) explores a digital preservation system migration project at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Written by Alisha Baginski and Andrew Pederson, the case study examines how the project team navigated significant time and resource constraints, highlighting key implementation and migration practices. It also offers practical strategies for other institutions planning digital preservation system migrations with limited resources and tight timelines.

Launch of GenAI4Earth project.png

Launch of GenAI4Earth project

The GenAI4Earth project officially launched in Santander, Spain, from the 21st – 23rd September 2026. Funded by Horizon Europe, the three-year project will develop trustworthy, reusable generative AI services for Earth system science within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) ecosystem.

Led by CNRS, the project brings together 17 partners with expertise in AI, data science, Earth systems and computing infrastructure. The DCC will lead work on capacity building, adoption and dissemination, as well as developing tools to support actionable, AI-ready Data Management Plans (DMPs).

Find out more about the project on the GenAI4Earth website and keep up to date with its activities via LinkedIn.

Resource of the month

Data Do’s and Don’ts: A Primer on Indigenous Data Sovereignty provides practical guidance for researchers working with Indigenous data and knowledge. More than an introduction to Indigenous Data Sovereignty, the primer offers clear “do’s and don’ts” for every stage of the research lifecycle - from data collection, consent and provenance to access, reuse, attribution and governance.

It also challenges common misconceptions and encourages researchers to build respectful, reciprocal relationships with Indigenous communities.
