Event description
The European Open Science Cloud (EOSC) has been in development over the past decade and aims to provide researchers across Europe with an open and trusted multi-disciplinary environment that supports the production, sharing and reuse of FAIR data and resources. The UK already has significant strengths in digital research infrastructure, including trusted research environments, data services, high-performance computing and open research expertise. UK organisations have also contributed to the development of EOSC through previous European collaboration projects. The UK has been involved in many European Commission funded projects to establish and implement EOSC but activity across the UK has been fragmented and there is a need to map past and current activities as well as to raise awareness of the potential benefits of EOSC among UK Research Performing Organisations (RPOs).
Jisc, DCC and UKRI undertook the PATH2EOSCUK project to address these gaps and to explore the potential value in the creation of a UK EOSC node. The project was funded by EOSC Gravity and ran between May-November 2026. This workshop will share the results of the project, provide an overview of next steps, and outline ways for the community to remain engaged as work progresses.
