Peter Burnhill, Director (Phase One), gave a presentation, "Curating the Future," at JISC Conference 2004, International Convention Centre, Birmingham.
In partnership with the Research Information Network we have created a new forum for the exchange of experience and best practice between the managers and technical staff from UK data centres, university repository installations and other related organisations with responsibility for the discovery, delivery and preservation of digital research output.
The DCC ran two Tools of the Trade workshops in conjunction with the JISC MRD Progress Workshop. The first introduced users to the newly refined Data Asset Framework (DAF) toolkit and the second, held in cooperation with the University of London Computing Centre (ULCC), introduced users to the Assessing Institutional Digital Assets (AIDA) toolkit.
A one-day workshop on web archiving will be held at SOAS on 28th June 2010. The workshop will look at the selection, capture and management of websites and web resources, introducing and assessing various organizational approaches and technological tools which exist. The training will look at website archiving within the framework of the OAIS model which is currently taught on the DPTP, and illustrate the concepts with practical examples and exercises.
JISC and The Blue Ribbon Task Force on sustainable digital preservation and access are sponsoring a one day free symposium on Thursday 6th May 2010 at the Wellcome Trust Conference Centre in London.
