Introduction to Research Data Management
30 November 2016 |
Responsible data management has increasingly become an expected element of high quality research. Funding body mandates are reflecting this change, and they now place emphasis on providing evidence of appropriate provision for data management and curation in grant applications.
This half-day workshop will provide an introduction to the research data management landscape and will look at data sharing and data management planning in greater detail. The agenda will include a mixture of presentations and workshops, allowing opportunities for questions and discussion.
NB: Exercises include a practical element, if possible, delegates should bring a laptop to the event.
By the end of this workshop participants will:
- Understand RCUK and EC funder requirements for data management and sharing
- Learn how research data management and curation can facilitate data sharing and increase citations
- Understand what a data management plan is and how to produce one
- Be aware of some of the free tools and support services available
Who should attend?
This course will be of interest to researchers and HEI support staff looking for an understanding of the main issues around research data management and an introduction to ways in which these issues can begin to be addressed.
