Full Title
Encoded Archival Context
Description
EAC is an XML based standard for encoding descriptions of persons, individuals, families and organisations that create documents and records. It is primarily designed to encode data which is compliant with the descriptive metadata standard ISAAR(CPF) (International Standard Archival Authority Record for Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families). The aim is to enable the human context in which records are created to be captured, increasing both access and understanding of these. EAC is designed to interoperate with EAD (Encoded Archival Description) enabling enhancements to archival finding-aids encoded using this standard.
