The DCC are pleased to announce that we will shortly be launching a new series of free online training sessions which will take place throughout the spring and summer. These brief sessions will last for one hour and will provide participants with an introduction to some of the current issues, some examples of emerging good practice, and an overview of tools and approaches.
In late 2013 we ran a short survey, seeking the views of the RDMF community on the future shape of this series of events. This blog gives an overview of the outcomes of this exercise.
The three-point summary:
- You told us that the RDMF events are highly valued by the community, and that the DCC should continue to run them. For our part, we’re very happy to continue to do so.
- The consensus was that two meetings per year was the optimum frequency. Location-wise, there was most support for moving the event around the UK, with the proviso that locations should, where possible, be easy to access from all corners of the country. With this in mind, we expect to be organising two events per year: a one-day event in London (as the place with the best transport connections) each Spring, and an overnight event elsewhere in the late Summer / early Autumn.
- There were multiple requests that we consider organising special webinar-style events; we’ll be investigating these over the course of 2014.
There were lots of DCC presentations in the parallel sessions at IDCC today. To help you keep up with what’s new at DCC, here’s a quick summary.
