Full Title
Dublin Core Metadata Initiative Terms
Description
Dublin Core Metadata Initiative (DCMI) Metadata Terms is an authoritative specification of all metadata terms maintained by the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative. This includes all elements, element refinements, recommended encoding schemes, and vocabulary authority terms (the DCMI Type Vocabulary).
The 15 element Dublin Core Metadata Element Set, as ratified by ANSI/NISO Z39.85-2007 (which supersedes ANSI/NISO Z39.85-2001 and the equivalent standard ISO 15836:2003) is a subset of the DCMI Metadata Terms.
DCMI Metadata Terms extends the basic Dublin Core Metadata Element Set to support extended and qualified profiles of Dublin Core, tailored to the needs of a number of different communities or functions. These include Dublin Core Collection Description Application Profile (for describing whole collections) and Dublin Core Library Application Profile (for describing published library holdings).
