Pre-conference drinks reception

Pre-conference drinks will be held on the evening of Monday 4 February at the Woodward Conference Centre, which is the second location of the University House Staff Club.

Located on the 10th floor of the Melbourne Law School, the building offers stunning views to the west of the city. The Woodward is an easy walk from the conference venue, travelling along Professors Walk to the South Lawn and along Barry Street to the Melbourne Law School on Pelham Street. The Woodward is just 800 metres from the conference venue. You can find a map of the venue here

Conference Dinner

The conference dinner will be held on the evening of Tuesday 5 February at the General Assembly. Join us for tapas and drinks with waterfront views and the city skyline!

Getting there:

The General Assembly is located on the south bank of the Yarra River. So, depending on the time you have available, you may choose to walk all the way there (about one hour) after your long day sitting inside, or alternatively, to take a combination of walking and public transport (about 30-35 minutes depending on route selected). Taxi or Uber will also get you there too - the address to give the driver is The General Assembly, 29 South Wharf Promenade, South Wharf, near DFO South Wharf.

For the Public Transport & walking combination use one of the options at this link:  https://goo.gl/maps/svxXV4jhE9A2 When you open it prior to departure it will provide information about tram departure times en route.

By walk … the scenic route … walk across from Arts West to Royal Parade and head towards the CBD, past the Victoria Market, past the GPO Clock tower, along Elizabeth Street to Flinders Street (30-35 minutes). Cross the Flinders Street/Elizabeth Street intersection and enter the station just opposite this intersection. Take the pedestrian walkway underneath the train tracks to the north bank of the Yarra River. DO NOT ENTER THE STATION VIA THE TICKETED ENTRANCE! [Ask someone if you get confused at this point] Once at the river, turn to the right and walk a short way to the Evan Walker Pedestrian Bridge on your left. Cross over to the south bank of the Yarra here. Walk a short distance and take a right onto the Southbank Promenade walking past the Crown Casino; across Clarendon Street; past the Boatbuilders Yard, and finally arriving at The General Assembly (20-25 minutes). And a nice cool drink will be waiting for you when you arrive at the venue!

NB: Beware of cyclists wearing lycra & suits along the promenade!
